Mijn verhaal speelt zich af in Brugge, een stad die bekendstaat om haar schoonheid, geschiedenis en openheid. Maar achter de mooie gevels schuilde voor mij een andere realiteit: een gevoel van afwijzing omdat ik simpelweg mezelf ben.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Het Begin van de Boycot<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Het begon subtiel, bijna onzichtbaar. Blikken die iets langer bleven hangen, gefluister dat achter mijn rug leek op te stijgen als een mist. Misschien was het mijn stijl, mijn houding, mijn stem of gewoon het feit dat ik unapologetically mezelf was. Wat het ook was, het voelde alsof ik plotseling buiten de lijntjes kleurde in een stad waar iedereen verwacht wordt binnen de lijntjes te blijven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ik merkte het op in kleine dingen. Vrienden die afstand hielden. Mensen die vroeger vriendelijk groetten, maar nu hun blik afwendden. Werkrelaties die ineens stroef verliepen. Het voelde alsof ik werd uitgesloten van een onzichtbaar netwerk dat vroeger zo vanzelfsprekend leek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Waarom?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Waarom word je geboycot omdat je je eigen pad kiest? Omdat je een andere levensstijl hebt? Omdat je kleding, je uiterlijk of je idee\u00ebn niet stroken met de &#8220;norm&#8221;? Misschien was mijn zelfexpressie te veel. Te luid. Te zichtbaar. Maar moet ik mij verbergen om erbij te horen? Dat was nooit een optie voor mij.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wat me het meeste raakte, was niet alleen de boycot, maar het onbegrip. Het onvermogen van sommige mensen om te zien dat anders zijn niet bedreigend is, maar juist een verrijking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Hoe Ik Ermee Omga<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Geboycot worden is pijnlijk, maar het heeft me ook sterker gemaakt. Hier is hoe ik ermee omga:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Blijf Trouw aan Mezelf<\/strong><br>Ik heb geleerd dat je nooit iedereen tevreden kunt stellen, en dat hoeft ook niet. Ik blijf mezelf, met alles wat me uniek maakt.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Vind Je Tribe<\/strong><br>Niet iedereen hoeft je te begrijpen. Er zijn altijd mensen die jou waarderen om wie je bent. Het was even zoeken, maar ik vond mijn &#8220;tribe&#8221; \u2013 mensen die me accepteren en ondersteunen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-pale-pink-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1\"><strong>Gebruik Het als Motivatie<\/strong><br>In plaats van me klein te voelen, gebruik ik de negativiteit als brandstof. Het drijft me om meer te bereiken, meer te stralen en nog harder te werken aan mijn dromen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Een Boodschap voor Brugge (en Verder)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-pale-pink-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2 wp-block-paragraph\">Brugge, YOU WON&#8217;T BREAK MY SOUL! fuck all of yall! Ik hou nog steeds van je. Maar ik hoop dat je leert om ruimhartiger te zijn. Niet iedereen past in het beeld van een postkaart, en dat hoeft ook niet.
